Family Childcare Home Services

Family Child Care Education Network (FCCHEN)

PVUSD Family Child Care Home Education Network (FCCHEN) is comprised of approximately sixty licensed family childcare homes and is funded by the California Department of Education (CDE) to provide quality subsidized early education and childcare to eligible families. Children are cared for in licensed family childcare homes that meet strict standards for quality set forth by the CDE. Once an eligible family completes the enrollment process, Child Development staff work with families to find a family childcare home in our network that fits their needs. Family childcare homes in the PVUSD Network are located in Watsonville, Freedom, and Royal Oaks.

Family Child Care Providers in our network are required to maintain liability insurance, CPR/First Aid certification and a license issued by the California Department of Social Services.  All individuals working or living in the family childcare home must pass a background check. Providers must have a minimum of 12 ECE (Early Childhood Education) units and complete 21 hours of professional development per year. PVUSD Child Development staff provide quality assurance, training and technical support to our network of providers to ensure the highest level of services for our families.   PVUSD Child Development Staff ensure children are receiving quality care and education through monthly home visit consultations, network meetings and various professional development opportunities.  Providers and PVUSD staff work in partnership to assess and monitor children’s development using the Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP). This observational assessment tool is completed within 60 days of the child’s enrollment and every six months thereafter. Providers meet with parent/guardians twice per year to discuss the results of the DRDP and set learning goals together.
